Metal Clay Classes

About four or more times a year, Barbara offers classes for beginners, as well as those who have had some metal clay experience. In these half or full day classes, students get hands on experience with silver metal clay and produce their own handmade, solid silver jewelry, to enjoy or give as a gift. All instruction, materials and tools are provided. Barbara’s classes will soon have a new home! Future classes will be held at the Mountain Artists Guild in downtown Prescott, AZ.

Current class offerings:

Intro to Metal Clay – Textured Earrings

Students receive three to four hours of hands-on with metal clay. You will learn a little about the history and composition of metal clay.  You will learn about how to use basic tools for working with metal clay.  Students will learn how to roll it out to desired thickness, imprint textures, cut clay with templates, dry the clay, and refine it for torch firing. After you fire you pieces, you will learn how to finish the fine silver and bring it to a lustrous silver finish, complete with patina.  Barbara will be happy to add the sterling ear wire and a bead if you like!
